The museum is situated in an old palace of Sansepolcro, the seat of the municipality until the 60s.The fulcrum of the museum is the room in which Piero frescoed the Resurrection, emblem and symbol of the city. In addition to those dedicated to Piero della Francesca, there are other 15 rooms exhibiting numerous 14th-to-20th-century works of art.

Among all the things people should visit in Arezzo, there are several reasons why its churches certainly play a fundamental role. Anghiari is considered one of Italy's most picturesque towns. On June 29 1440 the plain at the town's outskirts was the setting of a famous battle, which would be later aptly named "the battle of Anghiari". It was fought between the Florentines -back then allied with the Holy See- and the Milanese.

The medieval hamlet of Monterchi originates as a holy site for the ancient Romans, and was worshipped by the cult of Hercules. Today, the city is one of the must-see stops for visitors taking the “sentiero dell’arte”, the original artistic path that traces the journey of the art of Piero della Francesca.

Cortona is the main turistic and cultural center belonging to Arezzo's Valdichiana area. In antiquity it used to be a powerful city-state belonging to the Etruscans' dodecapolis or "twelve-cities' league". Today it offers a wide range of artistic points of interest, including Etruscan tombs, churches, museums such as the Diocesano, with its famed masterworks by Signorelli.
